Bout 001 (Video/Action): Welcome to confusion.

[The transmission starts out as audio at first, a teenage girl's voice sounding annoyed.] -- back here! I told you already! We'll get out there and start exploring after I manage -- [A couple seconds of static, and then voice switches to video, pointing up at a cloudless sky.] -- this thing works!

Oh, wait, I think it's on! [The video swings around to point at a short-haired girl whose brow is furrowed.] Uh, hello? This thing is recording, right? Look, can anybody tell me what the heck is going on here? I wake up in a house I've never seen before, get shoved out the door by a woman I've never met before... And now apparently I'm supposed to take care of this weird little... purple guy! And he won't stop --

[A crash from off-screen, and the girl jumps.] Hey! What did I just say?! Ah, geez, I'll be right back! [Click.]

[And we're back on the air! Chie has got a Tyrogue by the scruff of its neck, and it's just settling down from struggling to scowl at her.] Now just hold on, or I -- Rise-chan, is that you?

Yeah, it's me-- whoa, did Tomoe shrink??

[ she's pretty sure he was a Hitmonlee. ]

We're-- well, you've played the Pokémon games, right? That little guy's one of them, and he's your new partner. We were all dragged here at different times... and no one can use abilities here.

... Aha, welcome to Johto!

[...Okay, just... give her a second to process that.] Wha... Pokémon? I... Yeah, I played it a little when I was a kid, but... You mean it's real?

[She looks over at her new partner, who only offers "Tyrogue" in return.]

Yeah, I know it sounds crazy. It took me a few minutes too, until I got jumped by a purple rat.

...A purple rat. Well, I guess we've seen weirder monsters, haven't we?

[Chie snickers at that.] Definitely. [Finally setting the Tyrogue down now...] So... Rise-chan, what is going on? How did we get here? And what are we supposed to do?

I still don't know how we got here, but I guess the point of it's to go on some great Pokémon journey, or however the game goes. A lot of people think that if they reach the end, that means they'll get to go home.

I can't tell you much on scale, but walking-wise, you've got about three days to get to it.
