Bout 003 (Video/Action): Silliness in Violet. (backdated to Mon. 1/17)

[We open on a truly bizarre sight. Is it a new Pokemon never before seen? Some horrifying Frankensteinian creation?

...No, it's just Chie's Hitmonlee and Snorunt being silly. The Hitmonlee is shaking with silent laughter, while the Snorunt is trying to pretend she's above this foolishness (despite her own faint giggling).

An amused voice comes from behind the camera.] You do realize you guys look ridiculous, right? Here, Bruce, hold this for me for a minute. [The Pokégear trades hands to reveal Chie, pulling on and zipping up her jacket as she speaks.] Hi, everyone! Thought I'd check in, since it's been a while. We're all doing fine! Working hard and getting stronger, you know the drill. Although I guess these two were getting bored waiting for my shift to end. [Her brow furrows.] Hey, I just realized, that's my scarf. [She reaches past the camera to grab said scarf and sling it around her neck.]

Anyway, I wanted to say, we're heading to Goldenrod in a few days! I've got a friend there who's gonna get me past that weird tree thing. So I was just thinking, if anybody here in Violet wants to meet up and hang out, now's our chance! I've kinda been too busy training to meet people here, so I really should change that! Now, we're probably gonna leave...

[Before Chie can finish that thought, the local Nurse Joy approaches.] Excuse me, Miss Satonaka?

What's up? Oh, shoot, did I forget to clock out again?

Oh, no. I'm afraid we found this poor dear when we were doing some computer maintenance. [The nurse hands Chie a Pokéball.] He was sent to you from Goldenrod some time ago, but ended up in the wrong PC box.

Goldenrod? [Chie looks blank for a moment, but then her face lights with comprehension.] Oh! This must be the Pokémon Rise-chan was saving for me! Great, thanks! [Nurse Joy smiles and returns to her work, and Chie turns back to the gear.] I can hardly wait to see what he looks like... Okay, come on out!

[Chie tosses the ball to the ground, and poof! Out comes... an adorable Dunsparce, which immediately leaps into Chie's arms. Oh my gosh my trainer is back!!! She... doesn't take it well.] Aaugh! W-What are you, some kind of weird bug? [The Dunsparce jumps at her exclamation. What, what's going on, what's wrong? Clearly I have to hide in my trainer's jacket now!] Hey, cut it out!

[And then Chie's foot hits a little puddle left by someone coming in out of the cold, and down she goes. The Pokégear goes flying as Bruce rushes forward to try to catch her, and the feed goes black.]

...Really? [...Looking closer, it sure does. And now Chie feels bad.] Aw, geez, don't look at me like that! I didn't mean... You just startled me, that's all! [Yosuke looks at least a little appeased at that.]

*he hefts up his Ralts, who seems to be reading the mood and is perking up a bit.*

Ehe... And now he looks a bit better! Though I can understand why you were surprised, given what I walked in on.

Yeah, apparently he's... more affectionate than I expected! [She holds him a little closer to her, looking down at him as he looks up.] Y'know, you are kinda cute, in your own way. Sorry for freaking out there. [Yosuke is satisfied with this, chirping a cheerful "Dun!"]

*d'awwwww. Hayate just smiles and nods.* I've never seen one aside from this guy here, but he is kind of cute. *This makes his Ralts staaaaare up at him, which he quickly follows up to--* Not as cute Miya though. ♥

[Now that crisis has been averted, Chie finally stands up, taking a look at Miya.] Aww, she is cute! Uh, she is a she, right? It's hard to tell sometimes.

Mm, she is! *Now he's just holding the Ralts up closer to his face, and she quickly clings to his neck and nuzzles against him.* She's absolutely adorable.

[Chie chuckles. This display is almost too cute for words.] Did she hatch from your Christmas egg? I don't think I've seen anything like her in the wild before...

She did! I was in awe when she first hatched... *Which is to say he squealed like a girl cause she was so cute.* But I don't think she's native to Johto, so I'm extra lucky to have her.

Yeah, I think mine is the same way. [She glances around for her Snorunt, who has conveniently trotted over to peer up at the newcomers.] Suzuka Gongen here isn't like any Pokémon I've seen before either.

Suzuka Gongen...? That's one fancy name... *Hayate glances down to the little triangle and lowers his Ralts a bit so he can smile down at the Snorunt.* Hi there~! There were definitely a lot of unique ones given out during Christmas, that's for sure...

Ahaha, the name's kind of a long story. [Suzuka Gongen essays a cool wave to Hayate and Maya.] Yeah, it sure seems like it! A lot of them seem to be pretty fitting, too. Like our starters, you know?

I can only imagine, since it's definitely not the kind of name you pick at random... *d'awwww tiny little :E faced thing so cute.* Fitting...? Hmm... I hadn't really thought about that.

Mine seem to be, at least. I mean, take Bruce here! [Bruce bows respectfully and silently.] He evolved into a Hitmonlee, and now it turns out he's a devoted kicker just like me!

Aaaa, that's right... You named him after Bruce Lee, right?

Ahahaha, you got it! I've always been a big fan of his movies.

I haven't seen too many of his movies myself, but I can understand why you like him if you're into kicking things.

Oh, heck yeah! The stunts in just one of his movies would put an entire shelf of martial arts flicks to shame! It's too bad I don't have my DVD collection here, or I'd be happy to show you a few.

Yeah, I can definitely agree with that... Though I don't think I'll ever understand all those noises he makes.

Aw, come on, you can't fight without some kind of battle cry! [She laughs and snaps off a kick in the air] Hwa-taa!

*fffft he is startling a bit as she lets that kick off.* --whoa! ... I... I guess I can see your point... Though I've never had a problem with kicking people in silence from time to time.

Well, yeah, but it's more fun this way. Bruce -- my Bruce, I mean -- likes to be the strong silent type, though.

Mm... Well, I'm not about to deny it's fun to yell out a special attack name when you let loose a big attack! That's one of the basics when it comes to fighting.

Definitely! So do you fight a lot yourself? I remember you said you were good at kicking too...

I just fight when it's necessary.
