[We open on a truly bizarre sight. Is it a new Pokemon never before seen? Some horrifying Frankensteinian creation?

...No, it's just Chie's Hitmonlee and Snorunt being silly. The Hitmonlee is shaking with silent laughter, while the Snorunt is trying to pretend she's above this foolishness (despite her own faint giggling).

An amused voice comes from behind the camera.] You do realize you guys look ridiculous, right? Here, Bruce, hold this for me for a minute. [The Pokégear trades hands to reveal Chie, pulling on and zipping up her jacket as she speaks.] Hi, everyone! Thought I'd check in, since it's been a while. We're all doing fine! Working hard and getting stronger, you know the drill. Although I guess these two were getting bored waiting for my shift to end. [Her brow furrows.] Hey, I just realized, that's my scarf. [She reaches past the camera to grab said scarf and sling it around her neck.]

Anyway, I wanted to say, we're heading to Goldenrod in a few days! I've got a friend there who's gonna get me past that weird tree thing. So I was just thinking, if anybody here in Violet wants to meet up and hang out, now's our chance! I've kinda been too busy training to meet people here, so I really should change that! Now, we're probably gonna leave...

[Before Chie can finish that thought, the local Nurse Joy approaches.] Excuse me, Miss Satonaka?

What's up? Oh, shoot, did I forget to clock out again?

Oh, no. I'm afraid we found this poor dear when we were doing some computer maintenance. [The nurse hands Chie a Pokéball.] He was sent to you from Goldenrod some time ago, but ended up in the wrong PC box.

Goldenrod? [Chie looks blank for a moment, but then her face lights with comprehension.] Oh! This must be the Pokémon Rise-chan was saving for me! Great, thanks! [Nurse Joy smiles and returns to her work, and Chie turns back to the gear.] I can hardly wait to see what he looks like... Okay, come on out!

[Chie tosses the ball to the ground, and poof! Out comes... an adorable Dunsparce, which immediately leaps into Chie's arms. Oh my gosh my trainer is back!!! She... doesn't take it well.] Aaugh! W-What are you, some kind of weird bug? [The Dunsparce jumps at her exclamation. What, what's going on, what's wrong? Clearly I have to hide in my trainer's jacket now!] Hey, cut it out!

[And then Chie's foot hits a little puddle left by someone coming in out of the cold, and down she goes. The Pokégear goes flying as Bruce rushes forward to try to catch her, and the feed goes black.]

Ugh! I'm trying to tell you you shouldn't be fine with that! [Chie groans. It's like she has a switch labeled "sympathetic" and "infuriated" and he just keeps toggling it.] Look, just answer this. Do you want to try to be her friend? Or would you rather give up just 'cause it's easier to avoid her?

... someone told you about that, huh?

Yep. Teddie was the first one to let it slip, actually. [If you know him, it's not surprising. She chuckles.] And Rise-chan sent me this little guy. Apparently I caught him back then, and she got him when I... vanished, I guess?

Don't let it bother you too much. [a grin] People appear and disappear from this place all the time. Some of them come back with memories, some of them come back without them.

'S weird, but it's just another mystery of Johto.

Aaa... *Time to avert his gaze off to the side, turning his head away from her.* It would be a lot easier to just keep avoiding her... Far simpler than having to deal with being awkward around her forever if we ever somehow became anything close to friends...

Yeah, I'm mostly not. It's just weird to think that I did all that stuff, going places and meeting people, but I can't remember any of it... Geez, Yosuke here's almost twice Bruce's level, and we've been training pretty hard!

You were here for a pretty long time. [you also threatened to kick me in the shins, sob]

[Aren't you glad that you flipping Yukiko's skirt is one of the things I've forgotten? >|]

I guess I must've been. [She pats Yosuke on the head, and he leans into her hand.] Well, all I can do is start from the top!

That's not what I asked. Yes or no: do you want to be Rise-chan's friend?

[and if she ever comes back HE KNOWS BETTER]

Definitely! I've been missing that since you moved and all.

[She jumps a little at that, before laughing sheepishly.] I'm that obvious, huh, Souji-kun? It's not like I want her to be stuck here too, but, y'know...

[He nods.] Speaking about that, how long has it been since I moved away from Inaba? [Since Rise is about a couple of months since he moved while he's just a couple of hours.]

We all miss her, so don't worry. I think she'll just be lonely if she's the only one back home.

Er... I... *He honestly believes he doesn't deserve to be after all of this, so he is shifting his gaze downward again as his Ralts looks up at him sadly. He doesn't think it is possible at this point, so clearly the only right answer is:* No... No, I don't...

... [With that, Chie lets go of his shoulders.] Alright. Fine. I'm sorry I tried to help.

[She spins around and gestures at her Pokémon, voice clipped.] C'mon, guys, we've still got today's training to do. [Bruce, Suzuka Gongen, and Yosuke all glance at each other, then to Hayate and Miya. None of them seem willing to just leave like this...]

*hrrrrgh Hayate is just... standing there. Quietly looking down at Miya and turning around to head out of the center, clinging to the little Ralts as she huddles against him.* I'm sorry... *slowly slinking out and muttering* It's better like this.

[You see? Chie's method of behavioral correction TOTALLY WORKS.]

[She grins, glancing over at her team.] Oh, I've already got a lot more than one. Thanks! And good luck to you too!

[Chie's moments from the door when Suzuka Gongen and Yosuke give up and start running/floating after her. Bruce tarries a bit longer, though, finally leaning down toward the Ralts and actually speaking --] Hitmonlee, lee? Hitmon. ['Let's not give up on them yet, okay? We'll talk later.' That little message passed along, he runs to join the rest of his group.]

*Bruce why-- Hayate is a little surprised to see him stop and say something to Miya, but the Ralts stares off at him after the Hitmonlee runs off, feeling somewhat torn, due to knowing exactly what her trainer is feeling.* ... mm. I should wait a while, so I don't run into her right away...
